Soroptimists in Europe & Africa unite!

SOROPTIMISTS of EUROPE & MALI WORK TOGETHER FOR A BETTER FUTURE FOR WOMEN in Tallo, Mali

Soroptimists International of Europe, notably The Netherlands Club Zutphen and the Mali Club Lumiere, Bamako worked together to build and supply the funds for a water pump, a school, toilets and grain storage.
The village women took it a step further and planted a market garden for independent income and food!

It took seven years from fund-raising to building completion.
EVERY LITTLE DONATION WAS USED TO ITS FULLEST POTENTIAL.

Not only did the
women of the village benefit, but the whole community and the surrounding villages also benefitted from these amenities.

No longer do the women have to work for water.
No longer is the water unreachable many meters underground and fast drying up.
No longer do the children have to walk kilometers to go to school.
Now the villages can store their grain for lean times
Everyone benefits. Soroptimists in Europe unite with Soroptimists in Africa. A perfect cooperation.
Soroptimists International of Europe are coming together in Amsterdam for their 19th SI/E Congress on 10th-12th July 2009.

Two AWARDS will be WON
• The Water Best Practice Award 2009
• The Public’s Project Award
